Effective July 1, 2017, all gabapentin products will be a controlled substance in Kentucky (the state where Healthwarehouse.com is located). After July 1, 2017, any existing prescriptions for gabapentin (including Rx refills) issued by a practitioner WITHOUT a DEA registration will no longer be valid and MAY NOT be dispensed. Existing prescriptions for gabapentin that were issued by a practitioner WITH a DEA registration will not be affected, except that existing gabapentin prescriptions will expire after 5 refills or 6 months from the date the prescription was issued, whichever comes first. Please note that Physician Assistants (PAs) are not authorized to prescribe controlled substances in Kentucky, and any scripts written by a Physician Assistant will no longer be valid beginning July 1, 2017.

1. If your prescription has refills and is less than 6 months old we can continue to fill it, but it will now be listed as a controlled substance. We allow a maximum of a 90 day supply to be filled and refills can be obtained no more than 2 days early for controlled substances at Healthwarehouse.com.
   
   

2. If your practitioner does not have a DEA registration you can either have a practitioner with a DEA registration issue you a new prescription or transfer your prescription to a local pharmacy before July 1, 2017.
   
   

3. If your prescription is more than 6 months old you can either have your practitioner issue you a new prescription or have your current prescription transferred to a local pharmacy before July 1, 2017. We will be unable to transfer any gabapentin prescription that was written before January 1, 2017 once gabapentin becomes a controlled substance.
   
   

4. We can no longer fill Gabapentin prescriptions written by a Physician Assistant. Prescription will have to be written by a non PA prescriber with an active DEA or have your current prescription transferred to a local pharmacy before July 1, 2017.
